Why do I still have weeds in my lawn?
The most common question we get. Different weeds germinate at different times of year, with summer and winter annuals being the most prevalent. That is why we plan on doing weed control with each treatment, to catch any weeds that might have germinated between treatments. Also, broadleaf weeds can only be killed when actively growing. The best defense is a thick, healthy turf. If areas in your lawn are thin or bare, then weeds will likely come back in those areas until we can get some grass established there.
What about problems that are not covered in my regular program?
We will scout the property with each visit and let you know if we have any other problems. Grassy weeds, insect and fungus problems are usually very manageable if treated correctly. If you notice a problem or deterioration of your turf or landscape, contact us immediately and we will visit the lawn to diagnose the problem, free of charge. If a treatment is needed, we will let you know. If your property regularly has insect or fungus problems, proactive and preventative treatment plans are available.
How long after a treatment before I can mow my lawn?
We need you to wait at least 24hrs after a treatment, and make sure you are returning all clippings to the turf the mowing after a treatment.
How do I water my lawn?
We prefer that you give the turf 1inch of water every week. This is including rainfall, so a rain gauge will help you determine if watering is needed. We also prefer that you water as infrequently as possible to achieve your weekly goal. This can be from one to three times a week depending on the water holding capacity of your soil, slope and availability of water. IF you are unable to water due to the size of your lawn or an inability to irrigate, treatments will still be effective. Long periods without water; however, will negatively affect the vigor and health of your turf.
How long do I need to stay off the lawn after a treatment?
Until it dries. This may vary depending on the amount of sunlight the lawn receives or prevalent weather conditions. Please check your invoice; we will leave the amount of drying time necessary that particular day. We will also leave notes concerning mowing height, watering, and anything noticed on that particular visit.
Will rainfall after an application affect the treatment?
It really depends. If the lawn has had time to dry after the treatment, it should be fine barring a very heavy rain. Please give the treatment 2-3 weeks to be effective. If weeds persist, let us know and we will retreat free of charge.
